Zoe Thomson Plays Stratosphere By Stratovarius


Zoe Thomson dubbed the “Rock Princess” now 11, has been playing the guitar since she was six years old. She plays in The Mini Band as a Lead Guitarist. The video of Zoe playing when she was just 8 years old is one of many of her videos that have gone viral. In the video Zoe plays Stratosphere by Stratovarius and this video has over 5 million views. Zoe’s claim to fame started on YouTube when a video of The Mini Band playing a cover version of the Metallica hit Sandman at the Bucklebury Beer Festival in the UK back in 2011 went viral. Since then the Zoe’s YouTube stardom has taken off. A number of her videos have gone viral. This success has led to many different television appearances all around the world including in her home country in the UK, China, the USA, Russia, and Japan. Zoe was also featured in Google’s Review of 2012, which focused on topics that hit all time trends in that year. Orianthi tweeted that she wanted to meet little Zoe the next time she was in the UK after watching a cover version of Highly Strung by Orianthia and Steve Vai and Guns ‘n Roses shared a link of Zoe cover version of Sweet Child O Mine on their Facebook page and tweeted out the link.


Zoe’s favorite bands to cover include: Guns ‘n Roses, Metallica, and the Foo Fighters; she gains her inspirations from female guitarist Chantel McGregor and Orianthi. Zoe plays the Stardust Elite Venus and her acoustic guitar is a Wildwood Artist Rainbow Sparkle. If you want to follow her career she has her own YouTube Channel Called zoeplaysrock. Zoe and The Mini Band play gigs all over the UK including their biggest so far at the Blissfields Festival. They have also played Proud2, Weyfest, and they have appeared on Live With Gabby a television show in the UK. She met her band mates at Let’s Play Rock a music school in the UK. The Mini Band includes: Guitarist Harry Esson age 12, Lead singer Harrison Read age 11, Drummer Charlie Emmons age 14, and Guitarist Archie Zolotuhim age 13.
