Without a doubt Disneyland is one of the most magical places on earth. While at the Disney you can choose from hundreds of rides, music themed parades, all of your favorite Disney characters and delicious, world-famous snacks. Disney is world famous for their sugary, melt in your mouth funnel cake treat among other tasty treats like the churros, soft serve ice cream, PB and J smoothies and one of a kind bakeries ready to take your taste buds to Never land. How can re-create this Disney masterpiece without having to break the bank going to the most magical place on earth? It isn’t hard and we have provided easy step by step directions to create the sweet dish in a few] short minutes.
The YouTube channel Lets Eat Fiction gives us viewers the tasty opportunity to make the funnel cake we so desperately desire right in our own kitchens. All you need are a few ingredients, a sweet tooth and the chance to be whisked away to the magic kingdom.
Here are the ingredients you will need:
1 ½ tbsp. baking powder
2 c. flour (all purpose works best)
2 cups of milk*
Almond milk or lactose free can be substituted
½ tsp salt
2 whole eggs
2 ½ tsp. vanilla extract
Lots of powdered sugar
Here is what you need to do:
First you need to get supplies out form your kitchen including a large bowl, whisk, deep pan for frying, kitchen tongs and a funnel.
Next in the large bowl you will mix together the following: eggs, vanilla extract, flour, sugar and milk. Gently combine these ingredients until it is blended smoothly and without lumps. You will want a smooth batter in order for the funnel cake to retain the right shape.
Take out the pan of your choosing making sure it is deep and pour approximately an inch of vegetable oil into the pan, turn over medium to medium high heat.
When the oil has had proper time to heat up slowly add the egg and vanilla extract mixture into the pan, creating a design that either mimics the funnel cake at Disney or simply one of your own creative designs.
Once the side of the funnel cake in the oil is brown, use kitchen tongs (the oil is very, very hot) and flip the sweet mix over. Giving adequate time for the rest to cook transfer the cake to a paper towel, allowing the vegetable oil to soak the funnel cake.
Now comes the best part, top your masterpiece with as much powdered sugar as your heart desires! You could even go above and beyond by melting chocolate beforehand and pouring it over the cake adding strawberry or banana slices. The possibilities are endless!
