Johanna Basford has a love of art. She enjoys starting her creative journey with pencil and paper, from there she moves onto ink and paper. It is the simple pencil sketch that breathes life into her artistry. She brings her work to life using uncountable amounts of paper, as any true artist would.
As a child, she enjoyed visits to her grandmother and grandfather’s home in the lush land of Scotland. They live in an adorable part of southwestern Scotland called the Isle of Arran. Just the name of the town brings to mind mythical creatures and fairytale forests.
Johanna Basford has not enjoyed using computer graphics, unlike most people in the art industry in today’s world. She believes that they are “cold and soulless”. With over one million copies of her adult coloring books sold, it appears that many people agree with her. Computer graphics could not give such vivid life or show such a sense of energy that Johanna Basford is able to create with her amazing talent.
She has several pictures that she creates. There is a deer with peaceful birds on his antlers. You can find a fox within foliage. There is a woodland forest with a woodpecker. The cover of her book is Enchanted Forest. There is a picture of a pyramid of animals and forest. There is an abstract forest. A circle of circular flowers is in bloom, with each pedal different from the flower next to it. There is a forest picture with mushrooms and berries. There is a dragonfly with geometric patterns. There is a watering can with flowers coming out of the spout. There is an array of flowers and ferns. There is a beautiful castle with a river flowing from it. There is a peacock sitting on a tree branch. There are two fish in the middle of a swim. There is a drawing of a forest with an owl and the branches making hearts. There is a birdfeeder with a forest and a bird. There is an owl sitting on a tree branch, hiding in the leaves. In the final picture, is the artist, Johanna Basford, surrounded by her artwork.
