After receiving so a massive amount attention and love from all of Audrey’s new fans, her parents thought it would be great to help spread awareness of Audrey’s illness. They have done so by sharing special videos of Audrey that discusses her condition, and the struggles that come along with it.
As reported by Metro News, Audrey suffers from Diamond-Blackfan Anemia (DBA). This is a condition that causes the body to be unable to transport oxygen, which happens when the bone marrow doesn’t produce enough red blood cells. This condition can be serious, but Audrey is anything but. She loves hamming it up for the camera.
The Nethrys have decided to lend their support to the Diamond Blackfan Anemia Foundation. This is a foundation that raises money to help children overcome problems associated with this specific type of anemia. Audrey is helping them raise not only money, but awareness for the struggle that sufferers of this illness must deal with on a daily basis.
Audrey is not only dealing with DBA. Unfortunately poor little Audrey was also born with a cleft palate, and a hole in her heart. Also, DBA has caused her to grow much more slowly than all the other children around her. She also has to have regular blood transfusions; one every 3-5 weeks, and has had to have 20 so far.
These difficulties haven’t managed to stop Audrey from living her life, though. She is a fighter, a tough little girl, and loves to jump and dance to the music of all her favorite musicians. Some of Audrey’s favorites include Bruno Mars, The Beatles, Iron Maiden, and millennial sweetheart Taylor Swift.
Audrey’s father, Scott, had this to say to the Daily Mail regarding his brave little dancer: “Audrey is a happy, loving, smart little girl who loves to dance, listen to music, and collect dolls and stuffed animals. She is incredibly strong and leaves an impression on everyone she meets.”
Audrey sure is an extraordinary human being. She chooses to live every day in the moment, and never give up. Even when facing what seems to some like insurmountable obstacles, she dances through it with jubilance. If only everyone could face their problems with the same level of joy, the world would be a much better – and more musical – place. We can all learn a lot from Audrey, and her determination to dance to the beat of her own drum.
