This puppy’s name is Jake and Jake has already been through so much in his short life. Unlike so many other puppies out there who struggle to find a forever home to call their own, Jake was able to locate a family to take him in at a young age. But disaster struck one day when the family’s home caught on fire and Jake was trapped inside.
While he was able to survive the blaze, he did not emerge completely unscathed. The family brought him to the vet’s office to survey the damages and when they did not like what they saw, they simply decided to get rid of the dog entirely. How a family could abandon a dog this adorable during his hour of need is completely beyond us.
Jake was able to triumph over adversity and decided that he would not let this cruel twist of fate define his existence. The poor puppy was just a few weeks old when these events took place and we can only begin to imagine just how scared and confused he was. Going from having a home of your own to being caught in a fire to having to find a whole new support is quite the progression.
It was definitely a lot to take in, but Jake is a survivor. He took to rehabilitation like a fish does to water and within a few weeks, he was able to make a full recovery. Unfortunately, the scars from his horrific incident still remained. The firefighter who was responsible for Jake’s rescue decided that he could not bear to see the pup go without a home, so he adopted him.
Jake now gets to spend his days at the fire station hanging out with his new father. He’s been made into their unofficial mascot and he tags along with the firefighters as they visit schools and deliver lectures about the importance of fire safety. He was even sworn in as an official firefighter by the city! Jake is currently in the process of training to become a therapy dog and thanks to this selfless firefighter, his story has a happy ending.
This dog is a symbol of perseverance and a shining example of what can happen when you refuse to let adverse circumstances define you. If you’d like to learn more about Jake and his amazing adventures as a firehouse pup, then be sure to visit his Facebook page.
