Hiking is one of the most thrilling experiences that a person can enjoy. Not only does it bring us much closer to nature, but it also provides us with a valuable opportunity to become more healthy. When preparing for a hiking trip, it is important to exercise extreme patience and caution. However, once you get going, you will be very glad that you spent the extra time preparing.
But nothing could have prepared the hikers in this story for what they would find on their trip into the mountains. On a fateful mid-September day in Bhutan, Tim Gorski (who just so happens to work as a filmmaker and an animal welfare activist) discovered a poor, helpless dog as he made his trek.
The animal had lost half of its hair and was clearly fighting a losing battle with mange. He was reduced to doing whatever he had to do to survive. Tim took immediate pity on the dog and did not want to leave him all by himself. He contacted The Maya Foundation, a local group that rescues animals, and they came to retrieve the dog from his hellish existence.
There is a great deal of irony to be derived from this encounter. Most people who go on this particular hike do so with the intent of discovering their true sense of purpose. While Tim was searching for his inner peace, this pup found theirs when someone came along who was finally willing to care for them.
The pooch would soon take his new name from his savior and Tim the dog was given the shaving and medical treatment that he so desperately needed.
All it took was a few weeks away from the mountains for Tim’s skin to become much softer and healthier. A few months later, his hair was finally finished growing in and he looked like a completely different animal than the one Gorski had come across in the mountains. This dog is a beautiful creature now, thanks to the help of his rescuers.
Gorski urges those who come across animals like Tim to step in and take the necessary steps to find them help. By providing these animals with the love that they desire, they will never have to feel alone in the world. The dog that Tim Gorski saved now resides at The Maya Foundation’s Barnyard Animal Rescue and Sanctuary. Feel free to share this story with all of your fellow dog lovers as soon as possible.
Gorski encourages people to step in when they see an animal suffering and provide it with some amount of care so that they’ll never feel alone. The canine Tim is currently living at The Maya Foundation’s Barnyard Animal Rescue & Sanctuary. Share away, people!
